Upcoming Stakeholder Workshop on the High Level Political Forum

Event: Stakeholder Consultation on the High Level Political Forum & Post-2015 Sustainable Development Governance
When: 27 Friday March (1:15-2:30 pm)
Where: UN Conference Room 8, UN Headquarters, New York

The High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) is to provide leadership, guidance, reviews and implementation on sustainable development within the United Nations system; and is therefore a critical entry-point to ensure delivery of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs) and more broadly on the global post-2015 development agenda.

This side event will launch a broad and inclusive consultation, online via the SD2015 website, and introduce a set of activities at the global, regional and national levels. The HLPF will be key to the success of sustainable development in general and the SDGs in particular. This consultation aims to promote further awareness of the HLPF and to collect the views of civil society and other non-government actors on what measures, architecture and engagement mechanisms would enable the advancement of an ambitious, effective, inclusive and strengthened HLPF.

SPEAKERS:

  • Ambassador Michael Gerber, Special Envoy for Global Sustainable Development, Switzerland
  • Ambassador Guilherme de Aguiar Patriota, Deputy Permanent Representative, Brazil
  • Representative (TBC), UN DESA/DSD
  • Jan-Gustav Strandenaes, Special Governance Advisor
  • Naiara Costa, Beyond 2015
  • Moderated by: Jeffery Huffines, UN Representative, CIVICUS

Please note: The event will be hosted at UN Headquarters and participants will need a valid grounds pass to gain admittance.

The event is being organised by the Sustainable Development 2015 multistakeholder programme, with the support of the European Commission, the Government of Finland and the Government of Switzerland.
