First Session of Intergovernmental Committee of Experts on Sustainable Development Financing

The first session of the Intergovernmental Committee of Experts on Sustainable Development Financing is taking place 28-30 August at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. The primary areas of focus for the three day meeting are as follows:

  • Election of officers
  • Adoption of the agenda and other organizational matters. One of the key areas of focus for the Committee will be to discuss and agree on broad and open consultation modalities with relevant financial institutions and other stakeholders.
  • Follow-up to the outcome of the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, relating to the preparation of a report proposing options on an effective sustainable development financing strategy to facilitate the mobilization of resources and their effective use in achieving sustainable development objectives.
  • Adoption of the report, which will then be considered by the United Nations General Assembly
