First intergovernmental negotiations on post-2015
19-21 January, negotiations on the post-2015 framework began in New York. The purpose of the three day meeting between member states was to conduct a "stocktaking" of the preparations for a new sustainable development agenda. The meeting was the first of eight scheduled sessions (January-July 2015) , with the final framework scheduled for adoption at a UN Summit in September 2015.
Speakers at the meeting discussed the four elements of the anticipated post-2015 framework:
- A declaration;
- A set of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
- Their means of implementation;
- A new global partnership for development
