The UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) will hold it's second meeting on agenda setting for the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) at UN Headquarters in New York, 30 June - 9 July, with evening meetings on 30 June and 1 July. It will be the first meeting overseen by The UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The draft programme of work for the event has four proposed areas, these include:
- The Evolution of Rio+20 to post-2015
- Regional dimensions and countries in special situations
- Shaping the HLPF beyond 2015
- Science policy interface – Rio+20- have asked the HLPF to strengthen this matter.
The draft programme of work has not yet been agreed upon by Member States and is not current available for distribution.
Registration for NGOs for the meeting is not open yet, however there will be opportunities for stakeholders interventions and suggestions throughout the programme.
The ministerial meeting of the forum will be held from 7 to 9 July 2014. The theme of the meeting is "Achieving the Millennium Development Goals and charting the way for an ambitious post-2015 development agenda, including the sustainable development goals." This will be followed by the ECOSOC Annual Ministerial Review (8-9 July) and the Development Cooperation Forum (10-11 July).
