Summary of the 11th Session of the Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals

The Open Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals held its 11th session from the 5-9 May at the UN Headquarters in New York. On the last day of the five day meeting delegates commented on several focus areas: Means of implementation (MOI)/Global partnership for sustainable development; and Peaceful and inclusive societies, rule of law and capable institutions.

It was concluded that the next version of the working document would include the issues of equality and climate change and the MOI focus area. Delegates division over whether to include a focus area on peaceful and inclusive societies, rule of law and capable institutions meant that they would also stay in the next version of the document. The next version, which will include many more targets, will be made available around 27 May.

The week leading up to the the remaining two OWG sessions will be dedicated to informal-informals, due to the request for more informal conversations. The first of these sessions will be at the UNGA Hall from 9-11 June.
